Doug Birgfeld joins AGL Steering Committee

Doug BirgfeldAgile Government Leadership is honored to welcome Doug Birgfeld to the AGL Steering Committee.

Doug is the Director of the Project Management Office and the Agile Center of Excellence and Lead Agile Evangelist for the State of Maine. Doug has been on a mission to introduce and implement Agile as, not just project delivery, but as the Rosetta stone to translate legacy organizational structures and practices into dynamic change loving continuously improving team culture.

In the last two years, Doug set up Maine’s first Agile COE and grew the states PMO from 10 to 60+ professionals. Doug is an active speaker and talks about the real-world benefits of Agile and practical methods of getting started and scaling agile throughout the region and nationally.

Prior to his work at the Maine PMO, Doug was a development manager who, with his team, implemented to first agile development team for the State of Maine.

Doug is vocal supporter of Change Leadership, and healthy organizations who care about effective, sustainable and humane change.

Throughout his career, Doug has been a dedicated change leader and specializes in finding the high functioning team that is inside every organization.

He is also an avid cold water surfer where being Agile is a definite requirement.
