Doug’s mission is to introduce and implement Agile in the public sector. He views Agile as more than efficient project delivery — it is the Rosetta stone for translating legacy organizational structures and practices into dynamic, continuously-improving team culture.
Doug is Senior Partner and Chief Evangelist at Agile Wave, bringing innovations and efficient practices learned from years in state government into the broader public sector. Prior to this, Doug served for several years as Director of the Project Management Office for the State of Maine, where he set up the state’s first Agile Center of Excellence and grew the PMO from 10 to 60+ professionals.
Doug is an active speaker on the real-world benefits of Agile, practical methods of getting started, and scaling agile throughout the region and nationally. Prior to his work with the PMO, Doug was a development manager who, with his team, implemented the first agile development team for the State of Maine.
Doug is a vocal supporter of Change Leadership and healthy organizations who care about effective, sustainable and humane change. Throughout his career, he has been a dedicated thought leader and specializes in finding the high-functioning team that is inside every organization.
He is also an avid cold water surfer where being Agile is a definite requirement.
