Governments that want to improve customer satisfaction can now access a free online course geared toward the Product Owner role of a government project:
AGL leaders, drawing on their experiences within organizations like 18F and GSA, designed the course to guide users through the basics of agile in just a few weeks.
The lessons are free, and available online to use anytime. An introductory webinar is scheduled for June 16 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET.
As more and more citizens rely on web-based services, the role of the public sector product owner is critical to a more effective government.
“The product owner is the person on a project who represents the business and user community,” said Mark Vogelgesang, Innovation Specialist at the General Services Administration and a co-author of the course. “My experience as a product owner within the federal government shows that when customers are empowered by having their own voice on a project, it allows a beautiful balance to form between the developers, managers, and users, resulting in products that actually deliver what is needed.”
