Tips on joining California’s agile government vendor pool

GovTechAs California looks to expand its pool of pre-qualified agile vendors, companies can learn from those who are already on the winning list, according to GovTech.

CivicActions, an agile development firm that secured a spot in the agile vendor pool last year, shared strategies and best practices for other companies who want to provide services to the state. The firm used examples from its success with a prototype it built for the California Health and Human Services Agency.

The reality . . . was that time and security clearance limitations prevent companies applying for government work from building actual functional software. Instead, they must act as if they’re making something real, displaying as they do an ability to be agile and a broad understanding that they have what it takes to deliver software in the environment that the state will be looking for.
